Math
I will be sending home math goals for kids who need more practice with specific skills. If your child comes home with a sheet of paper with math goals, please do take some time to review it. As a first grade team, we all work hard to give kids extra review if they need it in school as well, but home support is very helpful!! READING HOMEWORK It is very important that all students get at least 10 minutes of daily Spanish reading practice. I would like to see them use the baggie books for the first few weeks, but if they are more motivated by using the Senderos website for reading, it is fine to use that as the main source of texts. I do want to emphasize the importance of reading books at the appropriate level! If the text seems pretty easy for your child, it is probably the perfect fit! They should be able to read with 95-100% accuracy and not struggle through decoding too much. If you have questions about text level, please ask. If your child is reading books that are too hard, it won't help them to become better readers. Comprehension is also very important! There are translations for the baggie books below. Please keep these to yourself to check comprehension when your child reads (general questions). Sharing the translations with your children really goes against the immersion model. They will not be able to translate word for word. The Senderos texts do not have translations available. Login information is the handwritten information that is in the baggie book bag. This login is the same to access your child's Google Drive where we will be putting some videos this year. The only difference is that you leave out the 'fhps' at the end of the username portion. |
